Text Entry

Allows the script user to enter text.

Properties that are common to this and many other controls are described in Common Properties.

Text Entry properties

Description

AcceptsReturn

Whether or not the field accepts the keyboard Enter key, to start a new line. This setting has other effects, as follows:

Text vertical alignment is middle

Will not appear automatically when text reaches the edge of the field

Text wraps

Will appear automatically when text reaches the edge of the field, only if TextWrapping is set to NoWrap

Will appear automatically when text reaches the bottom of the field, only if TextWrapping is not set to NoWrap

If unchecked:

any TextWrapping setting is ignored (i.e. behaves as if TextWrapping is set to NoWrap)
a horizontal scrollbar will not appear when text reaches the edge of the field

Text

The text that the field will contain when the page is loaded. The user must overwrite this when entering text.

TextAlignment

Ignored in this control

TextWrapping

Whether text wraps when it reaches the edge of the containing box. Only in effect if the AcceptsReturn property (above) is checked.

Options are:

Option	Description
WrapWithOverflow	For Scripter purposes, equivalent to Wrap. For more detail, see this Microsoft documentation.
NoWrap	No line wrapping is performed
Wrap	Line-breaking occurs if the line overflows beyond the available field width
